We are seeking a Sample Processing Officer to work within our Client's fast-paced sample reception department in Belfast.

The ideal candidate will be able to work within a small team as well as liaise and communicate effectively with other departments within the business. Attention to detail is key as well meeting deadlines.

Pay Rate: £11.54 per hour

Working Hours:

During training: Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm

After training: Rotation shift pattern, 7.30am - 3.30pm, 8:00am -4:00pm, or 8.30am - 4.30pm and one Saturday a month (usually 4 hours in the morning)

Job Type: Full Time, Temporary to Permanent

Main Duties:

- To communicate with customers ensuring a high level of customer service.

- To accurately and efficiently register samples for analysis and co-ordinate samples to the relevant labs.

- Stay ahead of sample arrival by managing the emails from customers.

- Monitoring and maintenance of stock levels.

- Ensuring all samples are labelled correctly and provided to the analysts in a timely manner.

- Effective handling of customer queries regarding the booking of samples.

- Registration of sub-contract samples.

- Organisation of sample collection by contract courier services.

- Logistics planning for the laboratory’s own sample collection service.

- Occasional sample collection in a company vehicle.

- Preparation of sample bottles, and arrangement for delivery to customers.

- Care of sample documentation and laboratory analysis request forms.

- Correct archiving when complete.

- Must be confident to describe the role sample reception has in the quality system, during regulatory or customer audits.

- Entry of laboratory results into the database.

Essential Requirements:

- GCSE English and Mathematics

- A working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of software with experience of data entry.

- The ability to communicate well, and work under pressure, as part of a team.

- A high level of organisational skills.

- Monitoring and meeting deadlines

- A consistent approach to duties with an attention to detail.

- The ability to act as an ambassador for our brand, dealing with customer queries with professionalism, while directing them to the information or services they might require.

- Clean Driving Licence

Desirable:

- Experience in a laboratory environment, preferably in an administrative role

- An understanding of sample stability and ‘chain of custody’
