We are seeking a Production Manager for our client based in Newry.
The production manager will supervise and organise the preparation and production of food in within a fast paced food production environment. You will be supervising the production team, ensuring monitoring and maintenance of high levels of food quality and packing. You will have a direct, hands-on approach to managing the team and resolving day to day production issues.
Salary: £37,000 Per Annum
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm OR Sunday to Thursday 6am - 3pm

Job Duties:
- Proactively manage the production team to adhere to strict food hygiene rules and ensure the daily production is delivered.
- Hold regular performance reviews and set objectives for all production staff
- Develop a good work ethic among the production staff, encouraging mutual trust, respect, and cooperation
- Liaise and negotiate with customers and suppliers
- Respond to any management/customer/supplier queries quickly and effectively
- Analyse data or information identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts by breaking down information or data into separate parts
- Organise, plan and prioritise work developing specific goals and plans to accomplish work
- Record, store, or maintain information in written or electronic form
- Administration of Production staff holidays / sickness / absence/ discipline and grievance
- Ensure all production equipment and utensils are thoroughly cleaned in compliance with company policy
- Be constantly aware of any possible hazards and report these to your supervisor immediately
- Manage Production staff work schedules
- Knowledge of company procedures and product control standards, instructing Production staff on these procedures and setting an example for the team
- Have a knowledge of all training manuals, ensuring the production staff comply with them at all times
- Ensure Production staff check and weigh all raw materials, ensuring accuracy
- Supervise quality checks on products produced, for example, the size and weight of the finished product, use by date, packaging
Job Criteria:
- Good Communication Skills in English (interpersonal, listening, written and oral) and a working knowledge of English
- Experience of supervising/managing a team
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making abilities
- Good planning, organisational and time management skills
- Experience of Food Hygiene and importance of good Health and Safety practice and procedures
- Good basic physical fitness for a physically demanding role
- Be trustworthy and reliable
- Proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software, e-mail and the internet
- The ability to work as part of team and make a positive contribution
- Ability to take accountability, make decisions and work on own initiative without supervision
- A flexible approach to work to meet the needs of the business and the role
