Our client, Greiner Packaging, one of the most successful packaging companies established in the UK, are seeking a Process Technician to join their operations in Dungannon.

Job Duties:
• Operate machinery in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies, ensuring a safe and organised working environment at all times.
• Promptly report unsafe conditions, behaviours, or incidents through the Safe Site reporting system and escalate concerns to the Shift Manager as appropriate.
• Promote a culture of safety by supporting colleagues in submitting Near Miss reports and consistently demonstrating best practices in safe working behaviour.
• Actively participate in risk assessments, safety training, and internal audits as required to maintain and improve site safety standards.
• Provide technical input and support in the creation and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures to ensure clarity, consistency, and operational effectiveness.
• Perform line-side quality checks, first-off verifications, and CAQ system inspections in line with established quality procedures.
• Accurately complete daily production records and associated documentation to ensure full compliance with BRC, ISO, and internal standards.
• Review production sheets to ensure information is recorded correctly, raising any discrepancies or concerns with the Shift Manager for timely resolution.
• Raise Non-Conformance tickets and MW44s to isolate, block, and return defective product from stores, ensuring issues are addressed promptly.
• Deputise for the Shift Manager in managing defective stock, with a focus on reducing waste and meeting customer requirements.
• Actively support the communication and resolution of quality issues within the department to minimise scrap and product loss.
• Adhere to hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) protocols at all times reporting deficiencies to the Shift Manager.
• Maintain cleanliness and 5S standards across the work area, ensuring equipment and environments are organised and compliant.
• Perform scheduled cleaning tasks on machines and within the working area to uphold hygiene and operational standards.
• Collaborate with the Shift Manager to coordinate the daily Thermoforming operational plan, ensuring output and efficiency targets are met.
• Lead and carry out tool and parts changeovers, applying SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Dies) principles to achieve target changeover times.
• Set up production processes in line with Bill of Materials (BOM) and Production Order specifications, meeting performance standards for machine speed and material usage, and promptly escalating any deviations.
• Perform machine adjustments to optimise product quality and equipment efficiency, while minimising scrap and material waste.
• Engage in effective fault diagnosis and implement corrective actions to ensure a swift response to production issues.
• Work closely with the Maintenance and Engineering teams during equipment breakdowns, providing operational insight into machine processes to support timely repairs.
• Accurately report and communicate details of unplanned downtime events for inclusion in shift reports and other operational communications.
• Operate machines including covering of tea breaks and full shifts if required in urgent situations.
• Carry out Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities and contribute to the development of best practices across both the Extrusion and Thermoforming areas.
• Actively contribute to team discussions and meetings, particularly during shift handovers, to ensure clear and accurate communication of key information to the incoming shift.
• Co-ordinate departmental resources and organise break cover to maintain operational continuity and minimise machine downtime.
• Encourage a collaborative and supportive team environment by promoting positive working relationships and championing teamwork across the department.
• Participate in projects and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing safety, quality, and operational performance.
• Support the training and development of both temporary and permanent operators by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
• Provide mentoring and guidance to apprentices and new team members to support their onboarding and ongoing development.
• Carry out all responsibilities in line with department-specific work instructions, procedures, the training matrix, and any additional duties as required.
Job Criteria:
Essential:
· 3+ years’ relevant experience as a machine operator/technician
· Strong technical competence; hands-on with tooling, machine set-ups, changeovers
· Comfortable with quality standards/verification and basic fault-finding
· IT-literate (Microsoft/SAP) and good communication across shifts
· Flexibility for weekend night shift pattern
Desirable:
· Thermoforming & Extrusion experience
· Continuous improvement exposure (lean/kaizen)
· Experience with HMIs and quick product changeovers
