We are seeking Fitters for our Client based in Derry. The successful candidates will maintain and repair all mechanical aspects of a vehicle, carry out vehicle inspections and associated
administrative duties.
Salary: £30,230.42 per annum (Plus shift allowance of £9,069.23 where applicable)
Working Hours: Day shift and night shift available
Hours per Week: 37
Job Type: Permanent Full Time and Full Time Fixed Term Contracts available
Job Duties:
- Inspect, service, maintain and prepare Translink fleet to PCV standards
- Test, diagnose faults and rectify defects on vehicle systems as appropriate
- Remove and replace vehicle components
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns
- Complete administrative duties associated with the post
- Other appropriate duties
Job Criteria:
- Minimum of 2 years’ post apprenticeship experience in a similar role within an automotive environment
- Recognised Vehicle Apprenticeship with minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant trade or discipline
- Awareness and understanding of customer needs
- Diagnostic ability where applicable
- Ability to produce sound & safe work.
- Awareness of and compliance with Health & Safety at work
- Working knowledge of vehicle systems e.g. diesel engine and fuel systems etc.
- Able to work with others and with minimal supervision.
- Full current driving licence
- Flexible attitude to work and working hours with ability to work additional hours when required or at short notice
- Available for call out
- Willing to obtain a PCV licence
- Able to satisfy such medical standards as may apply to the post
Desirable:
- Experience in a similar role working on commercial vehicles
- Relevant engineering experience on buses and/or coaches
- Understanding of vehicle electrical systems and body structure
- Experience of using IT packages
