We are seeking a Waste Management Operator for our client based in Belfast. The Waste Management Operator is responsible, as part of the main plant Operations team, for the safe, effective and efficient operation of fuel and reagents reception, and residue removal.

Pay Rate: £13 Per Hour

Hours Per Week: 40

Working Hours: Rotating shift pattern

Early Shift: 6.00am to 1.00pm / 6.00am to 2.00pm

Late Shift: 2.00pm to 10.00pm

Weekend: 7.00am to 12.00pm (1every 4th week)

Job Duties:

- To assist the Team Lead in the day to day running of the plant as required

- To carry out routine tasks and testing of plant equipment. Update the shift log including plant and process changes, diligent shift handover to ensure effective communication to the following shift.

- To assist with all shutdown activities within the plant ensuring plant downtime is minimised, also carry out front line maintenance within individual competence to ensure plant availability is maintained

- The control of vehicle movements in the tipping hall and residuals areas, ensuring compliance with site procedures at all times

- Assisting with loading and unloading operations.

- The operation of mobile plant and machinery

- To carry out random inspections and sample collections of delivered waste to ensure compliance with the EP (PPC) permit and record, reporting any none-conformances

- To assist in completion of relevant reports within the Fuel reception area

- To ensure that all activities within the plant are carried out in a safe manner in line with the Company Safety Policies and Procedures, and in line with all HSE requirements

- To comply with all PPE requirements including COSHH chemical handling

- To report any potential safety issues and control any hazards as required

- To carry out risk assessments to ensure activities are completed in a safe manner at all times

- To work as part of a team striving for continual improvement in minimising Health & Safety risks at the plant

- To ensure visitors to site are inducted in the site safety and emergency procedures To ensure the housekeeping is carried out on a regular basis to achieve a high standard of site cleanliness

- Continuous and routine monitoring of the plant to minimise environmental impacts To ensure compliance with the site Environmental Permit at all times

- Working as part of a team for continual improvement to minimise environmental impacts at the plant

- To record and report any impacts or potential impacts on the environment to the Shift Team Leader

- Continuous personal development within the organisation to achieve a higher potential.

- Adhere to all Company Policies & Procedures (including but not limited to) those specified in the Employment Handbook, H&S Policy, EMS System, IMS System, Management Guide and any financial/accounting systems

- Achieve the KPIs relevant to the role

- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities Policy.

- Conduct all activities with confidentiality and in accordance with the requirements of Data Protection Legislation.

- Undertake any other duties as required, that are within the competence of the post holder and conducive to the effective delivery of the role.

- Undertake and attend any training deemed necessary under the above general conditions.

- The employee will be subject to random D&A Testing as per the D&A Policy & Procedure

Job Criteria:

Ability to use own initiative and follow basic instruction

Forklift license (Counterbalance)

Driving licence and own transport.
