We are seeking Fitters for our Client in Magherafelt. The successful candidate will maintain and repair all mechanical aspects of a vehicle, carry out vehicle inspections and associated administrative duties.
Pay rate: £15.66 per hour
Hours per week: 37
Working Hours: Monday to Wednesday 8.30am - 5pm, Thursday 8.30am - 4pm and Friday 8.30am - 3pm
Job Type: Full Time Fixed Term Contract, until November 2024
Job Duties:
- Inspect, service, maintain and prepare vehicles to PCV standards
- Test, diagnose faults and rectify defects on vehicle systems as appropriate
- Remove and replace vehicle components
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns
- Complete administrative duties associated with the post
- Other appropriate duties
Job Criteria:
Essential:
- Minimum of 2 years’ post apprenticeship experience in a similar role within an automotive environment.
- Recognised Vehicle Apprenticeship with minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant trade or discipline.
- Awareness and understanding of customer needs.
- Diagnostic ability where applicable.
- Ability to produce sound & safe work.
- Awareness of and compliance with Health & Safety at work.
- Working knowledge of vehicle systems e.g. diesel engine and fuel systems etc.
- Able to work with others and with minimal supervision.
- Full current driving licence.
- Flexible attitude to work and working hours with ability to work additional hours when required or at short notice.
- Available for call out.
- Willing to obtain a PCV licence.
- Able to satisfy such medical standards as may apply to the post
Desirable:
- Experience in a similar role working on commercial vehicles.
- Relevant engineering experience on buses and/or coaches
- Understanding of vehicle electrical systems and body structure.
- Possess large vehicle licence, preferably a PCV licence.
- Experience of using IT packages.
